Phyla is a genus of eustarid plants in the verbena family, Verbenaceae. The name is derived from the Greek word (phyle), meaning "tribe", and most likely refers to the tightly clustered flowers or the spreading, mat-like growth.
This carefree plant is probably one of the best lawn substitutes, especially for difficult areas where nothing will grow! Highly adaptive to most soils: wet, dry, even clay. Plant 2’ apart for a quick, dense, creeping turf only 2” tall or use it for erosion control. Pretty 1/4" - 1/2” lavender-pink flower clusters appear Spring thru Fall, attracting many small butterflies and bees. Shear flowers periodically if bees are a problem. Evergreen, but after cold Winters, toss about some compost for lush, new growth. Edging prevents it from spreading into unwanted areas.
    1. EASY to Grow
    2. Low water needs once established.
    3. Can tolerate drought conditions and hot temps.
    4. Prune back plant in winter if it gets too leggy.

    *SEEDS DISCLAIMER*
Most specialty seeds we offer are NOT fast to germinate
    .
Many take several weeks, months, and some even up towards a year depending on dormancy, region, season etc. It is important that the buyer understands that seeds are perishable products and seed germination can be adversely affected by such factors as mold/fungus, bugs, temperature, moisture content, light intensity, dormancy, care, contamination of planting media among many other reasons.
Germination recommendations are sent with each order and the buyer is free to research and use their own methods. Floating seeds do not always indicate that the seed is not viable. Many times, it is a misconception because the seed does not have the density to sink in water. Accordingly, The Plant Attraction does not guarantee seeds to perform properly regardless of conditions or buyer's methods or soil/water/lighting.
