The Mazzard Cherry is the best of both worlds. It is a light pink flowering ornamental and delivers a naturally sweet, dark red cherry fruit that is large in size. The Mazzard cherry flavor rivals the sweetness of cultivated cherries! Cherries are slower to grow than some small cherry varieties however once they fruit, the tree offers bountiful harvests reliably.
Prunus Avium are very strong vigorous and disease-resistant trees. Seeds are fresh and sourced from a professional fruit tree grove grower in California.
How to Care for Mazzard Cherry Trees:
These trees grow well in thick moist soil with proper drainage. Water weekly. Fertilize in springtime or compost throughout the year. Plan to plant the tree in full sun to partial shade. If in a hotter climate, ensure it grows in a partially shaded area (or under the shade of a larger tree). If potting, ensure a very large pot (20 gal or more). Mulching is preferred but not required.
    Germination Procedure:
Place the seeds in a cup of water for 24 hours. Rinse the seeds. Repeat one more time. Next, if not planting in summer for spring sprouting simulate the season changes with stratification measures as follows: Apply 2 months of warm stratification. Next, 3 months cold stratification. Sow seeds at a 1 inch depth.
