e are proud to welcome you to
    The Green Grove Garden.
We have been active farmers and plant propagators for a number of years, and we specialized in the production of plant plugs, or basically miniature seedlings, for our on farm use. As such, we learned a great deal about seedling production and also the proper storage, handling and identification of quality seeds through intensive hands on experience. Consequently, we're excited to be able to offer you the finest and freshest seeds available.
200+ EUROPEAN BLUEBERRY SEEDS BILBERRY RARE AUTUMN LOW BUSH SWEET DELICIOUS USA
    * We have a very limited quantity of our wild Vaccinium myrtillus European blueberry.
    * This low-bush blueberry plant is extremely high in antioxidants.  It is, likely, an even richer source of nutrients than our domesticated blueberry.
    * These blueberry grows wild on heathlands and more acidic soil types and are considered a dwarf shrub.
    * European blueberries have been consumed for thousands of years as a traditional herbal medicine due to their very high levels of antioxidants.  In fact, they're consumed as a liqueur or tea in European herbal remedies to combat diseases like diabetes or gastrointestinal issues.  Also, there are studies pointing to the possibility of these bilberries inhibiting colon cancer tumor growth.  These studies are ongoing but look very positive!
    * These European berries have a darker flesh almost a red color unlike common blueberries that possess a whitish, translucent flesh.  Thus, they likely contain much more anthocyanins than our traditional blueberries.
    * The flesh has even been used as a dye for clothes and food.
    * They're commonly used, like traditional blueberries, in desserts, drinks, syrups, candies etc...
    * The European blueberry is also a very ornamental bush when properly hedged.  The leaves turn a beautiful color in the fall.
    * The flowers of these plants attract a wide range of pollinators like honey bees and butterflies.
We also offer numerous other complementary herbs, vegetables and flowers for the garden. Check out our
    other items
for additional varieties of flowers! We periodically run various specials so please look to see if we have any volume discounts available.
    Culture Notes:
    Germination Temperature-
    65-70 Fahrenheit
    Germination Time-
~12-16 weeks and the expected germination is ~45% according to the USDA.
    Sowing Notes
-European blueberries are much easier to germinate than our traditional U.S. blueberries but a few steps need to be followed to ensure maximum germination: First, use an acidic seedling mix with a pH of about 4.1. So, a seedling mix for ericaceous species will be suitable. Next, pre-moisten the mix for about 12 hours before placing the seeds onto the mix. Always use distilled water or water that has been boiled and allowed to cool before moistening seedling mix as blueberries do not like calcium in high amounts. Overfill the seedling tray with this pre-moistened mix and brush off remainder to allow maximum aeration in media. Finally, place your seeds onto this media, and try to evenly broadcast them onto the mix, and then lightly press seeds into media but do NOT press too deep as they need light. Cover the seed tray with transparent cover and expose to 12 hours of light and 12 hours darkness. Use diffuse light and NOT direct sunlight. The seeds can take 3-4 months but the investment in time will be well worth it!!
