Turnips are a fast-growing vegetable. These grow fast (55 days). They are an heirloom favorite in home vegetable gardens, patios and even in containers. They are hardy zones 2-9 however you can plant these in other zones with success...I have done it. South-facing is the way to go if you are in the hotter areas. If you are in cooler areas these are great too because they can withstand a light frost. Plant in quality acidic soil (-6.5 ph) for best results. Sandy is ideal but that's simply because they need good drainage.Plant seeds 1/4 an inch deep. Keep seeds and soil moist. Germination takes up to 21 days.
