8" Clay's Crystal Works Clear Glass Emma ABC Child's Plate Alphabet
The plate measures about 8" across, and is about 1-3/8" tall. It could also be thought of as a shallow bowl.  The rim features all the letters of the English alphabet, and the center of the plate features a frosted image of a little girl. That image is actually molded into the back of the plate as a depression in the glass. The letters are molded into the reverse side of the rim, and are raised from that back surface. "Clay's Crystal Works" is also molded onto the reverse side of the plate.
This cute plate is a reproduction (made in the 1960's) of the classic alphabet plate that was popular in the Victorian era. These reproductions were listed in catalogs as the real deal, even though they were "fake." There does not seem to be any record of a company called "Clay's Crystal Works" even though many of these plates bearing that company name were sold.  It is unknown why the plate was designated the "Emma" plate.
