    This item doesn't date back that far but in the late 1930's the Jackson Lake Area of Big Pines was the scout camp. It was the terminus of the Boy Scouts Silver Moccasin Trail through the San Gabriel Mountains. Hiking distance from the summit of Mt. Baden Powell. Since 1960 there has been a Verdugo Pines Bible Camp in the same area. There are and have been several other camps in the area including Camp Junipero Serra, which was recorded as an historic site in October 1992.
