FONS CQ30 TT N.O.S. w/ MAYWARE MARK IV TONEARM N.O.S. and SOUNDSMITH OTELLO ES

This is a NEW old stock turntable that has been inspected and cleaned. It is fitted with a N.O.S. Mayware Mark IV tonearm and a NEW Otello ES cartridge. All parts have been installed, tested and confirmed to be working properly.
The Fons CQ30 is a piece of transcription equipment of the highest quality.

Hyper concentric main bearing developed over years of intensive research and exhaustive experience by designers ensured that the old  bug-bear of rumble is reduced to well below useful and employable measurement, The CQ30 main bearing is a major achievement in  itself, the concentricity being of the order of +/- .00003”. We know of no other turntable which comes anywhere near this accuracy in general production.
Rumble, Wow, and Flutter typically -80db and better than .04%Theturntable is very clean wood/vinyl base, tinted dust cover. Motor has been given it’s 20 hour break in operation.
The Mayware is a low mass unipivot, variable mass silicone damped pick-up arm. This is a beautiful arm perfectly matched to the medium compliance Soundsmith Otello. Setup correctly this system performs way above it’s cost and competes with systems costing much more. Includes original box, packing, manual, set-up gauge, all parts, 2 headshells and silicone damping fluid.
The tonearm is mint except the arm tube, where it enters pillar, got scratched because set screw got

oose during moving and storage (see
pics). Otherwise very beautiful.

music. Just slightly warmer than Soundsmith designs, Otello yields a richness of timbre that is utterly beguiling with a level of speed and dynamic
range that no other cartridge has in this price range.
The new ES line uses a new Dynamic Energy Management System. This system directs internal vibration forces without reflection and disperses
them properly to the tonearm.
