    Description

Up for bids is a very nice, vintage pair of solid brass items:
    * First, there is an oval brass ashtray depicting a woman in a garden holding an apple or some other piece of fruit.  She appears to be trying to squeeze through a fence, but her skirt is caught.  On the reverse, one can see her skirt hitched up and buttocks showing.  It is a bit of
    risqué
decorative art from the 1950's.  The brass is in excellent condition, and I doubt it was ever actually used as an ashtray.  Instead, it was kept for decorative purposes in our living room, ever since I was a child.  It measures about 6" x 4" x 1", and it weighs a little over 1 lb.
There is no specific manufacturer name.  Given the time period, it is made with very good quality and is very sturdy.
    * Second, there is a brass trivet.  It has a highly detailed design with flowers, leaves, and grapes.  It has a handle and rests on four small feet.  There is a manufacturer's mark which appears to read "VM," and it it also marked "9-2 Trivet."    It is in excellent condition.  It measures about 8" x 5" x 1", and it weighs about 1 lb. 4 oz.  It is both beautiful and useful.
After all these years, it seems like time to allow them to move on to a new home where they can be more fully appreciated.  You will be hard pressed to find nicer ones!  They are a useful set for their intended purposes, or they would make any excellent addition to any collection of vintage brass accessories.
