Description
Piper nigrum is a flowering herb vine in the Piperaceae family. Some common names include Black Pepper, piper or white pepper. A native to South and Southeast Asia. A famous spice used worldwide for thousands of years. A vine that grows to 15 feet long and vining of to 15 feet as well. It prefers to grow in light shade and watered lightly but regularly. The leaves are a smooth evergreen 3-4 inches wide. It blooms in mid-summer with very small insignificant flowers that are a cream/yellow color. An easy vine to grow and maintain. It can be grown in a container as well. Zones 10-11Germination
Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours. Sow seeds the thickness of the seeds on top of the medium and lightly cover. Keep moist in a bright spot. Do not cover and keep temperatures around 65-75F. Germination is in 7-30 days.
