History of the mystical Hungarian blue poppy...
A beautiful heirloom, Papaver somniferum, Hungarian Blue Poppies, is a highly attractive upright annual with enchanting flowers. The robust big papery flowers are shades of pink, white, and lilac more so than blue (colors vary) and are larger and more exquisite, than many varieties out there. Opening from bud-like crumpled silk, Hungarian blue poppies are boasting with large, deep, bowl-shaped flowers. Showy black blotches are often present at the base of their petals, providing even more uniqueness to their beauty.
For weeks in summer, the ravishing blooms rest on top of sturdy stems clad with heart-shaped, silvery leaves. From this point, they are followed by large to extra-large decorative seed pods. Hungarian poppies grow up to 60-90 cm. tall (2-3ft.) and 45 cm. wide (18 in.). They are self-sowing, maintaining their own stunning beauty, for years to follow.

Heirloom Seeds
The term “heirloom” is thrown around a lot these days.
Simply put, an heirloom describes a particular seed’s heritage. They are seeds from a plant that has been passed down from one generation of growers to another. There are many “heirlooms” out there, but remember this, heirlooms are never hybrids or GMOs.
Our seeds are true heirlooms, grown and passed down over several years. They are perfected for peak values in flavor, productivity, adaptability, and hardiness. Poppies are fast-growing, and soon after the petals drop, the urn-shaped seed pods develop, rattling with blue-black seeds. The pods are then harvested for the kidney shaped seeds inside.
Recipes:
Cleanse seeds with a thorough wash in very hot water, at least 140 °F >, dispose of wash, and bake seeds at 400 °F for around 20 minutes, in a pre-heated over or toaster.
