    Description

This yellow opalescent vaseline glass compote is 5 ¼ inches tall, about 6 ¼ inches in diameter at its widest point and the base is 3 ¼ inches in diameter. While there are a few straw marks and a little roughness in the bowl, there are no cracks, chips, hairlines or other non-production problems that we can see. Please note all the accompanying photographs as they are part of the description.
    According to
    Opalescent Glass From A-Z
, authored by William Heacock and revised by JoAnn Elmore, the opalescent dolphin compote was initially produced by Northwood Company as early as 1902. However, the molds were purchased by the L.G. Wright Glass Company in 1939 and they had various glass companies, including Westmorland, produce the compote well into the 1990’s. See page 51 in
    Opalescent Glass From A-Z
. The compote is not marked and we simply can’t tell whether it was produced by Northwood or one of the later companies.
